January 1st 2024, MN State Legislature changed the amount of time for employees to stay with members of their immediate family. The hours have gone from 160 to 80 (ESST). 

Sick Leave Benefits for Care of Relatives. Employees may use paid sick leave for absences due to an illness of or injury to a member of their immediate family, as defined in A1ticle 27.3(a), pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 181.9413; for reasonable periods of time as the Employee's attendance may be necessary, on the same terms upon which the Employee is able to use sick leave benefits for the Employee's own illness or injury. Pursuant to the minimum requirements of Minn. Stat. 181.9413, except for absences due to the illness or injury of a child, an Employee's use of sick leave in accordance with this Section 27.3(b) shall not exceed 160 hours in any 12-month period. If Minnesota Statutes Section 181.9413 is repealed or amended to eliminate limits on the quantity of sick leave allowed for care for relatives, then an Employee's use of sick leave for care of a member of their immediate family pursuant to this article shall not exceed three (3) days per event, except to attend to a child.
